Seven year-old Vibe lives with her grandparents. On weekends, she travels many kilometres to see her parents; the magic of childhood disappears, making way for reality and a delicate moment for me to ask her how her situation came to be. Vibe’s answers take me from idyllic landscapes in Flanders to her mother, Britt—my sister—who lives cut off from the outside world. I join mother and daughter for an indirect dialogue. In doing so, I try to answer Vibe’s questions… and a few of my own.
