This web-documentary by Raspouteam, a collective of urban artists that finds alternate cultural and political uses for technology, allows us to relive the sad events that took place in Paris on October 17, 1961. Starting from an interactive map with eight witness accounts (recreated by actors and skilfully merged into archive footage), the online viewer goes straight to the heart of the murderous repression of public demonstrations against a curfew that applied only to Algerians. Each sequence offers viewers the possibility of delving deeper into the subject through interviews with historians and a wide range of multimedia assets (press articles, radio archives, internal FLN documents and more).
The webdocumentary is available at the Politis magazine website: http://www.politis.fr/17octobre1961 And also here: http://www.raspouteam.org/1961
