Souvenirs d'un vieil enfantMemories of an Old Child
“It is important that we never forget; that we remember, whenever necessary, just what racism and indifference can lead to. Remembering does not necessarily mean fostering hatred. No, it’s an attempt to understand how human beings can be capable of horrors of which our imagination cannot conceive.” Starring Philippe Ogouz, this is a film about Maurice Rajsfus’s memories of the summer of 1942 and of that "black Thursday" when his childhood came to an abrupt end. Aged just 14 at the time, he escaped the largest roundup Paris had known since the Saint Bartholomew’s Day Massacre. 15,000 Jews were arrested by the French police – not a single German soldier was involved – and deported to concentration camps in Germany.
