South American Maria (34) lives illegally in Germany. She must constantly be careful not to attract attention. If authorities take notice of her, she would be immediately deported. She can’t see a doctor and is easy prey to any swindler. To be able to work in Germany, she had to leave her children Pablo and Isabel in Honduras. Telephone calls and video-chats are the only connection. One day, Maria finds out that Pablo and Isabel’s stepmother maltreat her children and, without any preparation, she is forced to bring her children to Germany. She borrows money from a loan shark and rents a bigger apartment at unacceptable conditions. She's forced to work more, leaving the children home alone. Exhausted, Maria is about to return to Honduras when Peter, an eccentric insurance agent whose apartment she cleans, comes up with a surprising offer.
