Nos yeux se sont ouvertsOur Eyes Opened
“In a movie theatre, every week, they would play movies made by a woman and a man. The man, Jean-Marie Straub, was there at almost every showing. We were there too. And there in a dark room: our eyes opened.”
Our Eyes Opened deals with cinematic practice and the complex relationship between the films themselves and a possible way of talking about them. Despite the documentary nature of the situation, we are talking about a film that tells the story of an encounter, two moments that each remain irreducible and which nevertheless existed in one and the same place: a gaze’s encounter with films and that of an audience with spoken words.
