Not an Illusion

Sara is a young Iranian woman with captivating voice who wants to be a singer. Yet according to the rules in Islamic Republic of Iran, women should not sing solo in public. According to the clerics, God does not want to hear women’s voice even at prayers. But Sara, who used to be the champion gymnast of Iran and became disabled after a freak accident, is a highly motivated individual with great determination. She joins Piccolo band as a backing vocalist and a co-singer. Although still everything has to be approved by the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance, she hopes for a better time in an explosive society which is confused between modernity and tradition, as the band prepares for its first public concert.
