Mattia, a wide eyed youngster, moves from a provincial area to the great capital, convinced that with the pen one can change the world and that it would be possible to become a famous and successful journalist, while retaining one’s integrity. In Rome, though, Mattia discovers the harsh reality of becoming a great journalist, remaining at the same time fascinated by the beautiful roman world. He begins to move in a context that seems to make him reject his humble origins; meanwhile he meets, and then takes a fancy to, a young and sophisticated artist, Renata, linked to the editor of the newspaper where he works. Soon Mattia starts, with the help of his editor, to become part of that golden world of which he had always dreamed of being part of. In this environment thought, one can sense an undercurrent of corruption that involves politicians, business men, the whole of the Roman Bank and even the newspaper where he works...
