Les Faux-Monnayeurs
The main story concerns three individuals, two high school boys and a 40-year writer named Edouard, during several months in summer and autumn. Bernard, a Paris student of 17 or 18 about to take his baccalaureate exams, discovers he is a bastard son. He becomes deeply contemptuous of the man who raised him, but who is not his father and whom he never loved. He decides to run away and hide out at the house of his friend and classmate, Olivier. Olivier a shy, youth starved for affection which he tries to find among his closest friends or his uncle Edouard whom he is drawn to - a reciprocal attraction, but which neither can express. Following a chain of circumstances, Bernard is hired by Edouard as a secretary and they set off together for a stay in the mountains.
