The White Money

In the Colombian jungle, the peasants build their life around cocaine. They cultivate it, prepare the cocaine base and use it as currency. The shopkeeper receives several grams for corn grains or beer, the priest accepts alms in grams… The narcotics police spray the region with tons of herbicide but the ground sown with coca plants continues to grow while the legal crops are burned. Thousands of peasants must move to plant deeper and deeper in the Amazon jungle. This is the story of an economic system based on the gram of cocaine.
