Fuqin he EziFather and Son
"Father" was once the greatest folk singer among the Naxi people living in the mountains along the upper reaches of the Yangtze, and although his once beautiful singing voice has faded with the years, he remains a deeply respected member of the community. He lives with his mentally challenged middle-aged son, a grown man who approaches the world with childlike innocence, whom he loves dearly despite his disabilities. Over the years, father and son have come to depend on each other. As summer approaches and the apples ripen, we find son taking over the care of father’s orchard. As a bird of ill-omen cries out high in the sky, son begins to worry. He hurries through the green forest to his home where father lies in his bed, slowly fading away…
