Since his youth, Amit Dagan, 33, has been seeking answers for existential questions. The film follows the life of Amit and his daily struggle for sanity. After using a hallucinogenic mushroom during his travels in Central America, Amit became mentally ill. The popular kibbutz boy from Ein Harod, good-looking, intelligent and witty has turned into a wreck. Gonen, the filmmaker, is Amit’s best friend from the time they served together in the army. Gonen sets out on a 10 year journey documenting his best friend. Moonstruck Man is a documentary about friendship, insanity and a lost generation.
