The Archive

The story of an elderly married couple, who became the victims of a record made by the communist State Police, now filed away in the archives. During the communist regime Professor Josef Brzek worked for years in a boiler room after he was dismissed from the university. He refuses to forget about those hard times, to live the peaceful life of a retired gentleman - which is his wife’s advice, He sets out for the archives of the Ministry of the Interior to find out who were the real police agents who informed on him. However, the facts revealed in the archives shock and horrify him more than he had expected. He is now incapable of keeping a resigned silence, he wants his revenge. Only in the course of time, after he parts in anger with those closest to him, does he comprehend that things tend to be more complicated than seems at first sight, and that anger and revenge have no sense.
