Sixty years after the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and 200 years after the English abolition of the Atlantic Slave Trade, Slave Lands tells of the origins and evolution of slavery and narrates one of the most dramatic chapters of human history: the Atlantic Trade. In fact, from the early 1500s up until 1807, more than ten million Africans were purchased in the ports of the Gulf of Guinea and taken in chains to the Americas, to work as slaves on plantations.
