Married for the past eight years, Françoise and Eric both arrive at the company where they work together. While fire alarms howl, a colleague tells Françoise that a man has just jumped out an office window – Eric, her husband. After Eric’s funeral, the ambiance in the office becomes oppressive, what with the uneasy looks, the silences, the insinuations of the personnel manager who wants to know if Eric left a letter. And the unions want to use Eric’s death as an opportunity for a strike. Disgusted, Françoise decides to fight back and learn the truth about this tragedy, her tragedy.
