Nicolas Le Floch

Paris 1761. Nicolas Le Floch, brilliant young inspector at the Châtelet, works under the orders of M. de Sartine, lieutenant general of the King’s Police. At the end of Louis XV’s reign, against a backdrop of power struggles, conspiracies and vengeance are rife: mysterious disappearances, murders, plots against the King. Though torture is commonplace, Nicolas wants evidence before making accusations. Abetted by the loyal Bourdeau, he must investigate the most sensitive cases. From gambling dens to the hushed salons of Versailles, from the dungeons of the Chatelet to the brothels of Paulet, he hunts, shadows, interrogates, foils ambushes and unmasks the villains.
