Michel Galabru
He took first prize at the Conservatoire de Paris, then entered the Comédie-Française where he acted Shakespeare, Molière and Feydeau. But Michel Galabru is better known for his silhouette and stentorian voice in a wide variety of popular comedies, from the Gendarmes series to La Cage aux folles. Among those who recognized Galabru’s acting genius are Bertrand Tavernier for Le Juge et l’Assassin, Jean Becker for L’Été meurtrier, Bertrand Blier for Notre histoire, Denys Granier-Deferre for Réveillon chez Bob, Luc Besson for Subway, not to mention Jean-Luc Godard for Soigne ta droite and Georges Lautner for La Vie dissolue de Gérard Floque.
