Malaf KhasPrivate File
The film crosses lines that some people, in Egypt and the Arab world, might consider red lines or taboos, that should not be discussed like the discrepancy in social relationships between young males and females. The question is what is right and what is wrong, what is religiously allowed and what is forbidden. The film discusses the notion and value of honor and poses a shocking question: does a female’s honor reside in her virginity? If so, what is the notion of a male’s honor? How a female who has lost her virginity before marriage is punished socially and by her family, sometimes by death, while a lenient eye is cast upon the male if he does the same.
