Magie aus der DunkelkammerMagic from The Darkroom
The Swiss photographer René Groebli distinguished himself already in his younger years through fascinating studies of movement. Between 1953 and 1981, as a successful industrial and advertising photographer, he explored the possibilities of colour photography, still in its infancy at the time. His images have fashioned photographic creation on an international level. Next to his commissioned work Groebli also realised free projects of a high artistic standard, often in black-and-white. The most important work groups are brilliant series of photographs that are represented in this film in the form of image-music sequences: Rail Magic (1949), The Eye of Love (1953), Ireland (1981), N.Y. Melancholia (1999) and Nudes (2002). Groebli talks about important developments during his career and affords us insights in his special working methods.
