Les Indépendantristes
Les Indépendantristes is an unfinished play by Williams Sessine, who died in 1997. It is an uncompromisingly critical work about the daily realities in Africa, rooted in the tradition of the African storyteller. Jean-Claude Idée, who staged the play, cast seven young actors, most of them from the Dakar Conservatory. We hear out these actors, young Africans faced with the glum reality of Africa, this continent of the absurd where no one seems to understand anything. Who is responsible for the disastrous situation of the dark continent? The colonization? The Bretton Woods Agreements ? The "White Africans" who bleed their own brothers and "fill their pockets before everything explodes"?
