Les Caravage de Philippe de Béthune
France possesses only five Caravaggios in its museums, three at the Louvre and two in the provinces. No surprise then that the two paintings attributed to the painter, "The Pilgrims at Emmaus" et "The Disbelief of Saint Thomas", and which Loches-en-Touraine showcased in 2006, continue to produce a bombshell effect in the art world. This film is an inquiry with the participation of passionate protagonists fascinated by Caravaggio, with references to that master of suspense, Alfred Hitchcock. Shadow of a Doubt corresponds to the ambiguity surrounding the authorship of the Loches paintings and the chiaroscuro Caravaggio used with unrivaled mastery, opening the way to baroque art.
