The granddaughter of Italian designer Elsa Schiaparelli, Berenson adorned the front covers of Vogue and Harper’s Bazar, then Time, when she became an actress. Her life changed in Rome, where, in the company of Helmut Berger, she met director Luchino Visconti who became her mentor and invaluable friend. She made her film debut in a masterpiece, Death in Venice. But Berenson’s face is forever associated with the legendary role of Lady Lyndon, in Stanley Kubrick’s Barry Lyndon. In Rome, she visits the locations and shares her memories with us.
