Joseph Stiglitz, 2001 Nobel laureate in economics, former economics advisor to Bill Clinton, tries to answer a basic question: is another world possible? A world in which politicians look after our interests, rich and poor alike, and not only the interests of markets and creditor nations. Stiglitz gives a report on two-speed globalization. He reviews existing solutions so that globalization is not merely something inevitable. He takes us around the world to look at concrete situations where the perverse and beneficial effects of globalization are enlightening: India, Ecuador, Malaysia, South Korea and China are this film’s points de passage.
