A tale of two, at once parallel and overlapping, itineraries between Grenoble and Paris. Kouski, a former professional hockey-player, sees one day Sandra Serpolette reappear in the café he owns. Sandra, the wife of his best friend, Victor. Haggard, scrawny, barely recognizable, she’s come to tell him that Victor vanished, with explanation, three months ago. Even if they’d had a falling-out a few years ago over a debt, Kouski decides to drop everything to help Sandra and her little boy, Fred, whom she left in Paris, to find Victor.
