L'École du pouvoir

After passing the orals for the ENA (Ecole Nationale d'Administration) entrance exams, Caroline, Matt, Abel, Laure and her brother Louis proudly find themselves on the benches of the most prestigious French school, and set on changing the world. In this new fall semester of 1977, the National Assembly and the Presidency have been right-leaning for more than 20 years and the "Voltaire class" swears to change from within a system they consider unegalitarian and obsolete. Starting with the man who runs the school.
But their years at ENA, with its succession of triumphs and disillusionment, are only a dry run for what awaits them at graduation in 1980: the first round of a fierce struggle for power. All are called to the front and propelled by the election of François Mitterrand into the mysteries of the State. These young "énarques" will be called upon to make choices that their careers, and the future of France, will depend on.
