Marc and Henri haven’t seen one another since their mother’s death. Marc moved to Paris, leading a dandy’s life among the artists of the interwar years. Henri remained at the estate in Provence leading a solitary life; his only neighbors are the Chanu family who work the estate lands. News of Marc’s arrival arouses wariness. What is this dandy doing in this harsh and austere environment where working the land is the central concern? Despite their different walks of life, their regrets and the Chanus’ hostile and sarcastic faces, the two brothers attempt to renew contact. But at what price?
