On the occasion of the Beethoven cycle in June-July 2008, this film reviews Kurt Masur’s six-year stint at the head of the Orchestre national de France. We hear him speak about it and then meet the musicians and those who worked with him. We are with him during rehearsals of the Beethoven cycle to see how he brings out the sound of the orchestra. The film explores the strange alchemy between conductor, orchestra and musicians.
