Kanun - Blut für die EhreKanun - The Law of Honour
It's a centuries-old codex regulating honour and revenge in Albania that defines the lives of many people. The Kanun is relentless: “stolen honour knows no atonement. It cannot be forgiven. Stolen honour can only be restored by the shedding of blood.” Thousands cannot leave their homes for fear of the avengers. Death awaits them as soon as they put their foot across the threshold. Or else they find themselves on the run from the avengers, hunted, not knowing when the fatal bullet will come. It also affects the sons, like 14-year-old Christian. Above him hangs a picture of his father to whom he owes his virtual imprisonment here: twelve years ago, he killed someone and ever since Christian has been remaining inside the house. His fate remains in Sister Christina Färber's hands. She is a conciliator, who attempts the impossible: to get feuding families to set aside their vendetta and reconcile with one another.
