James Lee Burke, Louisiana Stories
In the past two decades, James Lee Burke has carved out an enviable place in the pantheon of American detective fiction writers. But, though his novels have been translated into many languages, he remains little known. This documentary introduces us to Burke through his personal and literary universe: his Cajun hero and fictional double, Dave Robicheaux, and the setting of his native Louisiana. In addition to interviews with the writer, we meet his daughter Alafair Burke, herself a detective story novelist, fellow writer Michael Connelly, filmmaker Bertrand Tavernier and actor Tommy Lee Jones, who recently adapted Burke’s In the Electric Mist with Confederate Dead for the cinema.
