Born in Corridonia in 1781, Giovanni Battista Velluti was one of the last great castrati. His singing, admired all over Europe, inspired the greatest musicians to compose operas for him and create roles for his voice. For years, he was unanimously acclaimed by audiences and critics. This film retraces his career and attempts to evoke, if not the opera of his age, then the voice of the great sopranos.
