Gina's Wedding
Taking the form of a village chronicle, Gina's Wedding is an account of a wedding ceremony on the high plateaus of Papua. The center of the story is Gina, a young German woman, and Napamogona, her adopted village, which is to celebrate her wedding according to local customs. This wedding is also meant to appease the age-old rivalries between the two clans. While Gina gives up her young girl status for that of a married woman and figure of reconciliation, the villagers abandon their old belligerent ways by grasping the movement of time and modernity.
