Gianni Berengo Gardin
Gianni Berengo Gardin (Santa Margherita, Ligura, 1930) is one of the best-known Italian photographers on the international scene. He has published more than 200 books and received the leading international prizes, among them the prestigious Lucie Award for his career, presented to him in New York on 20 October 2008. From Venice, the city of his youth and his first success, he looks back at 50 years of humanist photography. He covered such committed themes as psychiatric hospitals, the 1968 movement, Gypsies and long reportages on work, daily life and women. In each of his photos there is humanity, even in landscapes, which goes beyond esthetics, perfect framing, there is movement, the flow of life.
