Gabriele Basilico
Gabriele Basilico (Milan, 1944) is one of the most reputed photographers on the international scene and one of the seven Italian guest artists at the last Venice Biennale. His work is at the heart of international debate on the city and the contemporary landscape, around which he seeks to make an esthetic and conceptual synthesis. In Giampiero d'Angeli's film, Basilico talks about his life and work methods, moving about like a rhabdomancer in search of a spring, on the outskirts of Milan, in northern France for the DATAR mission, in Beirut, Silicon Valley, Moscow, the port of Genoa. To Basilico, photography permits us to order chaos before our very eyes, it has a capacity of representation that goes beyond what we see.
