Fortunes et infortunes des familles du Nord

This story is set in the north of France, in particular in Roubaix and Tourcoing. Here, textiles were king and dominated the world market for decades. This film looks back at the history of a leading family of wool merchants, wealthy and secret, the kind the region knew how to produce so well, and the history of its workers. We discover the multiple strategies used for decades by this family to optimize its capital and the consequences on the fate of employees: fortune for one, misfortune for the others.
