Enterrés volontaires au cœur de l'Antarctique
July 1, 1957 marked the start of the International Geophysical Year. The scientific world decided to explore the Antarctic. 12 nations worked together on a far-reaching research program to penetrate the mysteries of the White Continent. Three Frenchmen, Jacques Dubois, Roland Schlich and Claude Lorius, wintered for an entire year deep in the Antarctic. They spent 365 days at the Charcot Station, a 250 square foot aluminium hut, which was buried under the ice to protect it from the cold and polar winds. Today, Claude Lorius and Roland Schlich, the last living witnesses to this great adventure, look back.
