Chaïm Soutine
A 52-minute journey across France in the first half of the 20th century in the footsteps of painter Chaim Soutine. A tribute to his genius, life and art. The film takes us to Montparnasse in the Roaring Twenties, where he suffered, partied and created in its incredible atmosphere of artistic ferment. It also takes us to southern France, which attracted and inspired painters at the beginning of the century. Soutine, the loner, rubbed shoulders with the artists of the Ecole de Paris, Modigliani, Chagall, before finding success. This film sets out to deepen our understanding of Soutine’s spirit by delving into the breathtaking sensuousness of his landscapes and portraits.
