Chahine... leih?

Chahine... why?

Episode : Hamlet l'Alexandrin

Hamlet, or the equation, "To be or not to be," underscored the work of Youssef Chahine. Hamlet l'Alexandrin shows us the way into the personal world of the filmmaker and his bond with Alexandria, a cosmopolitan city where one loves others, whatever their religion or colors. In addition to this passion for Shakespeare's hero, Chahine kept close ties with his family, which was just as important as his career and the realization of his dream.

Episode : Je l'ai vu danser

Dance and music were central elements in Chahine's films. Je l'ai vu danser re-transcribes a man's passion for orchestration and choreography. Directing actors and himself gave him deep pleasure, both in the movies and in life. Youssef Chahine, a life in music and motion.
