The fantastic documentary saga of an acrobatic cripple weaving his way through the congested traffic of the Senegalese metropolis in his makeshift wheelchair. Bassirou left the desert where his friends made fun of his infirmity and moved to the outskirts of Dakar where he lived off begging and peddling trinkets to tourists. A sports fan, he formed a basketball team for cripples. But to prepare for an official state visit, police received orders to get rid of the cripples and beggars who were a blot on the city’s image. This didn’t stop Bassirou, who continue to believe he could live here as a cripple. But there are no such things as miracles.
