Zahra flees Upper Egypt for Cairo, thinking her father has killed her lover, Metwali. She sings at the garden of El-Azbakieh. That is where the manager of the Le Corssele casino hears her; thanks to him she begins her career as a diva. Later, she meets Captain Anwar, the son of Ismaïl Pacha, who falls in love with her.
