14-18 le bruit et la fureur
This montage documentary, made up of restored, colorized and sonorized archive footage, shows how the "war to end all wars" was kept going by general consent. Nations threw themselves into what they thought was a struggle of civilization versus barbarism. They thus joined the first modern mass butchery, without the slightest idea of what awaited them. Using the story of a soldier who went through the entire war and who also speaks in the name of his comrades, this film provides a new vision of this conflict whose scope and fury both prefigured and engendered the tragedies of the 20th century.
