“I’m not trying to make a film about asylum seekers, full of statistics and evidence, but to tell a true life story about a young woman with a simple dream; to come and live here. I want to tell your story.
Little by little, through your experience, I would like to come to understand the complexity and temporality that is particular to the situation of exile. If we find a poetic way to do so, we may be able to illustrate this in the film, and express the fragility of this time of waiting and of dreams and incertitude.
As a Burmese friend once told me, “exile is a long journey that never ends”.”
This documentary has been selected in the French film category at the Cinéma du Réel 2008.
