Tout noir, tout blanc
In the 80s, Joseph Makutu arrived in Limoges from his native Congo, by way of China. Today he is principal of the collège-lycée d'Aubusson, in the Creuse. Does he owe his social success to a particularly favorable reception in the provinces or is it his individual background that had been likely to "produce" an open-minded and dynamic individual? 25 years after his arrival in Limoges, Joseph met with the main players of immigration in the region. Accommodation centers, associations, community groups and refugees in transit provide a picture of the realities of French-style reception. Deeming immigration as the “addition of specific exiles in micro-territories,” the film begins with a local situation to illustrate how foreigners are for the most part received in France.
