State of Despair
More than 2 million Iraqis have fled the violence and danger in their country since 2003. It is the worst refugee crisis in the Middel East since the Palestinian ''Nakba''. They are crowded into the poorest parts of Jordan and Syria, terrified of being forced back into Iraq's civil war by their host nations. In State of Despair Olivia Rousset meets with some of the Iraqis who have sought refuge in Jordan where they are trying to eke out a living and keep their families alive while they watch their country descend further into total destruction. With no hope of returning and an uncertain future in Jordan these people pray for a solution to their statelessness.
