Seibouryoku wo koeteA Rape Victim Advocates
Mika Kobayashi was 24 when she came home and was raped by two men. Seven years later, she found the courage to talk about the attack, under her real name. Until then, in Japan, no rape victim had ever spoken under her real name, let alone accepted to be filmed. On the average, 30 rapes or attempted rapes are recorded daily in Japan. Although they are clearly victims, these women cannot bring themselves to speak about it to anyone. A silence that usually incites feelings of guilty, as was Mika’s case. She decided to speak out in the hope that her testimony would help other victims recover. What support are victims to receive? How can they overcome the trauma? This program was produced with the aim of providing some answers these questions.
