Scalp
1990. Iraq’s invasion of Koweit provoked a mini-crash at the Paris stock market. Pierre Etcheverry, the flamboyant, highly respected gold boy, jumped off the stock market roof. He left behind astronomical debts for his wife, Alex, a research biologist and many unanswered questions. Even his best friends, Jules and Raphael, golden boys themselves, never suspected his financial situation was so dire. It seems that Paul, Pierre’s brother-in-law and the family’s tax advisor, knew more than he is willing to admit. After the shock, Alex has no choice but to pay off her husband’s debts. Her only solution: give up her career and enter the stock market arena, without revealing her identity. Sponsored by her husband’s friends, she becomes a filing clerk, then rises rapidly through the ranks of this almost exclusively male world.
