Paciente 33
Jordi, a surgeon of the Hepatology Department in a prestigious hospital, sees how David, his healthy 10-year-old son, turns to be one of his patients due to a serious hepatic failure. After all the medical tests, Jordi assumes that no treatment can save David’s life but a liver transplant.
When David is nearly to death, a young German tourist victim of a motorbike accident is brought to the hospital. Neither Jordi nor the emergency services doctor can save his life. He talks directly to his parents by phone, who are in Germany, and after giving them the bad new, asks if they authorize his son to be a donor. They accept. Even Jordi knows he is against the law, he takes the responsibility of doing the transplant…
