Nos jeunes vies symphoniquesOur Young Symphonic Lives
Venezuela is famous for its syncopated salsa and its popular ballads. But for the past 31 years, an ambitious program designed to give children, poor children in particular, a love of classical music, has provoked the admiration of foreign conductors and given rise to musicians who shine in prestigious concert halls around the world. This documentary follows these musicians, ages 2 to 20, and united by the same passion: symphonic music. Conductor Simon Rattle gives his opinion about this experience and looks back on his career in view of his relationship with these young musicians. The accounts of leading musicians are interwoven with the film’s musical sequences: Edicson Ruiz, of the Berlin Philharmonic, Gustavo Dudamel, who today conducts at Gothenburg, Los Angeles and Palermo.
