How do you feel when you're a 20 years old student in China, today? Strict military formation, nationalistic slogans, speeches: the communist party is still trying to control minds. But in the student rooms, at night, one dream and talk freely about education, cinema, politic or sex. Camille Ponsin, the director, has been allowed to shoot for one year in this huge campus where 40 000 students work. Among them are Miao, attracted to the Western way of life, and Kun, more loyalist, who is following the Party, hoping for a good and quiet career. This is the strength of the film: through the eyes of these two young "heroes", we try to understand the Chinese problematic, shared between personal and collective lives, between communism and capitalism.
