Léopold III ou la chute d'un roi
Leopold III ou la chute d'un Roi relates the highlights of the most controversial reign in the history of the Belgian monarchy. Leopold III, fourth king of the Belgians, ascended to the throne in 1934, when all the alarm signals were ringing in Europe. A supporter, with Paul-Henri Spaak, of a policy of neutrality, he broke ranks with France and Great Britain and unilaterally capitulated. Prisoner of the Germans from 1940 to 1945, he was then forced into exile by his own country for more than five years. In 1950, after a crisis that nearly pitched the country into civil war, Leopold III abdicated. The sovereign was suspected of sympathies with the New Order and rallying to a German peace under the occupation.
