La Double Carrière d'Irène Jacob
Irène Jacob conducts a double career in film and theater. She made her debut in films by French directors: Louis Malle’s Au revoir les enfants, then Jacques Rivette’s La Bande des Quatre. But it was Krzysztof Kieślowski, the director of the Décalogue, who gave Jacob her first major (double) role in The Double Life of Véronique, which premiered at the 1991 Cannes Film Festival and won her best actress honors. She then appeared in Michelangelo Antonioni’s Beyond the Clouds, Oliver Parker’s Othello and Serge Le Péron’s L'Affaire Marcorelle. Pursuing her international career, she recently finished Paul Auster’s The Inner Life of Martin Frost, while appearing on stage with her companion Jérôme Kircher.
