L'Expulsion
The destiny of publisher Nils Andersson was anything but ordinary: born in Lausanne to a Swedish father, he created a literary review with Jacques Chessex, then published books censored in France at the height of the Algerian War. Accused of subversion for having published the writings of Mao in French, he was expelled from Switzerland in 1967, which caused a scandal. He sought refuge in Albania where he worked as a journalist for Radio Tirana before the fall of the communist regime. From Chessex to Mao, from Lausanne to Tirana: Andersson’s path says a great deal about the hopes and disenchantments of the late 20th century.
